Wood burning & Watercolor

 Watercoloring Kirk Cousins

I sat down at the table, did a little sketch, and then dipped by brush into water

That's how this piece began. And after the paint was laid - it looked just like the photo above.

Wood Burning

This piece started a bit different. Still with watercolor but it was first burned on a piece of wood with a hot tool called a wood burner. And even before that it was traced on to the wood … and before that it was thought about for some time, trying to find the best position for each player.

Now go forward a few steps and we return to the step where this piece is being painted. With watercolor.

After it was all done I decided to cut a little frame for it to nicen up the edges. This piece features quarterback, Kirk Cousins, wide receiver, Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson, tight end, Kyle Rudolph, and running back, Dalvin Cook from the MINNESOTA VIKINGS

My plan is to get all of their signatures so if any of you are reading this blog, yeah that's you Kirk, Kyle, Dalvin, Justin, or Adam. You guys should come sign this artwork for me!

Thank You for viewing Today's VIKING art!

This could be my last …

My Last Saints on 7.25 x 9.75 paper?

Saint Dymphna

It brings me great sadness that I must abandon this project with this last piece of Saint Dymphna. The last 'Saint on 7.25 X 9.75 Paper' - I had high hopes that I could finish all fifty-two drawings, but as I shuffled through my folder I discovered only one page left that measured 7.25 by 9.75 inches, it is the one you see below, Saint Dymphna.

  • Patron saint of the mentally ill

But I will continue … only it'll be different size paper.

I'll have to use 7 X 10, only a tiny difference of 0.6875 inches in area. - They won't take as long!

More Envelopes

Envelope Painting

Here are a few more envelopes

A smell this envelope with a lotus flower painted on. The flower didn't turn out how I liked so I added a message to cancel out the perfection.

A little chickadee watercolor.

A blue jay, this was my first envelope bird.

A cardinal.

This is my favorite in this series, a can of Bush's Original Baked Beans. I might have to do a larger version of this.

I hope you enjoyed these envelopes.

Saint Benedict with Video!

- Father of Western Monasticism

-Saint Benedict of Nursia-

I've finished letter B, next I will jump to letter D, with Saint Dymphna and Saint Dominic, as I have already done the C's. I like to jump around the alphabet, just to confuse people that like orderly fashions. Isn't it boring if everything is in line, perfect, and in an order that pleases you.  Never in real life is there perfect order and reason for things - same goes for this series, whatever letter I feel like doing next will be the one - F doesn't have to come after E.

-     Here is the finished drawing done in colored pencil on 7.25" X 9.75" paper. I have updated the page, "Saints on 7.25 X 9.75 Paper."

I have also recorded this drawing as I drew, the video is down below. I have had many requests to do another time lapse video from my many followers, so here it is, maybe I will record the rest of this series.
