馃晩 The Troops of Saint George

I had this nice holy card in my collection of them of the Troops of Saint George. It was Jesus standing amongst a group of boys who were in the TSG and He was giving them a "LESSON" so it fit the prompt well.

This is the mission statement from their website:

"The Troops of Saint George apostolate aims to use the outdoors as our canvas and the sacraments as our path to light the way for the formation of Holy Catholic men and boys. Whether called to the vocation of the priesthood, the religious life, or that of Holy fatherhood, our fathers and sons will take a prayerful pilgrimage together to fulfill Christ's desire for them to grow in virtue and in their Holy Catholic faith as they journey toward heaven."

- Saint George, Pray for us.

馃晩 Our Lady of Sorrows

As you know, some people shed tears when cutting onions. I don’t even have to be in the same room as someone cutting an onion and my eyes water! You can see why I picked Our Lady of Sorrows for the topic, onion.

The Seven Sorrows Devotion

The Blessed Virgin Mary grants seven graces to the souls who honor her daily by
saying seven Hail Mary's and meditating on her tears and dolors (sorrows).
The devotion was passed on by St. Bridget.

SEVEN SORROWS
  1. The prophecy of Simeon. (St. Luke 2:34–35)
  2. The flight into Egypt. (St. Matthew 2:13–14)
  3. The loss of the Child Jesus in the temple. (St. Luke 2:43–45)
  4. The meeting of Jesus and Mary on the Way of the Cross.
  5. The Crucifixion.
  6. The taking down of the Body of Jesus from the Cross.
  7. The burial of Jesus.
HERE ARE THE SEVEN GRACES:
  1. I will grant peace to their families.
  2. They will be enlightened about the divine mysteries.
  3. I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work.
  4. I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.
  5. I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.
  6. I will visibly help them at the moment of their death; they will see the face of their Mother.
  7. I have obtained from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness since all their sins will be forgiven, and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy.

Inktober | Day 26

馃枈 Inktober Artist Tag – Day #26

Welcome to Day 26 of my Inktober challenge! Each day, I’m drawing a different prompt with a simple Catholic twist. Today’s theme is “Puzzling”, and I chose to draw The Holy Trinity.

馃晩 The Holy Trinity

I thought the Trinity would fit the bill for this prompt because of the great mystery of it. There are tons of subjects that would work for this word, but this one stood out. Even Saint Augustine was puzzled at this mystery of the Trinity. It would be easier to fill the ocean into a little hole than to understand the Trinity.

馃晩 Our Lady of Champion

In October of 1871, a rain drought caused a massive fire in the nearby town of Peshtigo. The drought eventually caused another fire to begin raging in the rural area surrounding Robinsonville. Fearing for their lives and their livelihoods, the families that Adele had been educating flocked to the shrine grounds with their children and their farm animals. They began to process around the shrine grounds, praying the Rosary to the Blessed Mother, who was then referred to as Our Lady of Good Help. They prayed through the night and miraculously, the rains returned and doused the fires. The fiery inferno had reduced everything around the shrine to ash, but Our Lady had preserved the chapel and shrine grounds.

In October of 1859, a Belgian woman by the name of Adele Brise witnessed an apparition by Our Lady in Champion (then known as Robinsonville). Our Lady instructed Adele to begin doing mission work in the surrounding area by instructing the wildland children in the Faith. She was to teach them the Sign of the Cross, the Sacraments, and the Catechism.

馃晩 Saint Camillus de Lellis

Saint Camillus founded Red Cross, or an order called the Camillisns that dedicated their life to helping the sick and their symbol was a Red Cross. I wonder where today’s Red Cross got the idea? But before he converted he was into gambling and drinking and such. That’s why rowdy fit this Saint for today’s word.

♚ Saint Ferdinand III

Ferdinand III (Spanish: Fernando; 1199/1201 – 30 May 1252), called the Saint (el Santo), was King of Castile from 1217 and King of Le贸n from 1230 as well as King of Galicia from 1231. He was the son of Alfonso IX of Le贸n and Berengaria of Castile. Through his second marriage he was also Count of Aumale. Ferdinand III was one of the most successful kings of Castile, securing not only the permanent union of the crowns of Castile and Le贸n, but also masterminding the most expansive southward territorial expansion campaign yet in the Guadalquivir Valley, in which Islamic rule was in disarray in the wake of the defeat of the Almohad caliphate at the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa. His repeated and decisive victories against the Islamic Caliphate earned him the title Athleta Christi, meaning 'Champion of Christ', which was conferred upon him by Pope Gregory IX.

馃晩 Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
