The Annunciation...

 Pencil & Colored Pencil

I finished another drawing. I drew the Annunciation of Mary. Usually it is celebrated on the 25th of the third month, but since Easter and Holy Week were during that time it moved to the week after, which is the 8th of the 4th month.

Below are some progress photos. I chose to draw this one with graphite pencils and to make the subject pop out I used colored pencils.

Happy Valentine's Day!

 February 14th 2023

Happy Valentine's Day yet again...it happens every year, doesn't it? Well anyway, last year at this time I wanted to have a Saint Valentine drawing done for the series, so I had started on it a few months or weeks before...can't remember exactly. But funny story, I only got his face drawn.

So this year I decided to finish it, he was actually still taped to my drawing desk (my dresser)  with a bunch of papers and what not piled on top of him. So I cleaned up, dusted the drawing off, and finished in the month of September of two thousand and twenty-three.

This is actually a unique drawing of him, not the typical image you see of Saint Valentine because I have combined a couple of references together.

The first one being that of a computer generated image thought to be what he actually looked like. You can see that below. They took is skull and mapped it out using 3d imagery software to create an image of is actual face.

And the second reference I used was that of a statue of St Valentine to get his traditional looking vestments added in.

And here is the final drawing of saint Valentine.

Thank you for viewing my art! Happy feast of Saint Valentine!
