What Drawing Upside Down Actually Helps With

Drawing upside down can actually be beneficial

Many people of the human population believe they can't draw or have no artistic abilities at all.

But if they would only try and believe in themselves they would see their abilities take form in their artistically lost minds - their creativity would come back to life. Not only would their artistic abilities increase, but also their memory, perception, communication, and problem solving would also start improving, and their stress levels would go down as well.

But when you turn everything upside down...

That's when your mind gets to work from a different perspective. Your mind gets to see objects from a different angle as if it is a whole new form, shapes instead of what you think they are ... Now you can truly draw what you see and not draw what you know.

I can tell my skills and perception have improved over the past few years. This turned out a lot better than when I did this study in my ninth grade art class. It is not perfect, the head is in the wrong place - I drew something too big, but it is much better.

I encourage everyone that reads this to try it, or something identically similar - (redundant?)

But after the many years I have been drawing it seems that I can pick out the details and see them as many different forms and shapes - complexity into simplicity - that is the key to drawing well. Being able to take the details and see them as simple shapes.

Abstract Line Composition

 ABSTRACTLY ABSTRACT

Now I haven't really done abstract much ... actually the last time I did abstract was in 9th grade.

Usually artists represent something when doing abstract, like feelings, memories, or something of that nature - But I don't, at least not for this piece. I just sat down, drew some lines, and made some designs.

I only did an abstract because it was the assignment but it turned out to be fun - I've found out over the years that pretty much anything that involves holding a pencil or a paintbrush, or any tool of the artist's trade is fun, relaxing, and just plain enjoyable. (If you've never held a paintbrush or a pencil and you haven't had much fun in the past week or even year - you definitely should give it a try).

Now to get on with the drawing ...

in progress Pictures

The beginning

I started off ... I didn't even know where to start - but this is where it ended up after I started.

Not Long after ...

After a few steps I had the color pencils out getting some more medium down on the paper. This piece has a little pencil, a little charcoal, a little pastel, a little sharpie, a little fine liner pen, and a little colored pencil.

A few steps later ...

Yes, Bob Ross appears.

Getting towards the finish ...

Some more color and shading was added ... I guess too much - it's supposed to be a line drawing - I probably added too much value.

And The Final Composition ...

Overall it was a fun piece to draw even though it may be weird - not like the normal pieces I usually draw - but it gets its viewers thinking. It all moves the eye to Bob Ross.

Comment how you like it.

Art Class!

 More drawings to come

I signed up for a drawing class this semester so I'll be busy drawing - unless we have to model clay? Nope, probably just drawing.

In the first week we already had three drawings due. The first one is of a mug.

My second drawing is a still life done in colored pencils. At first I could not think of anything ... No, I couldn't think of what to draw that would look appealing.
But then my glance shifted over to the cabinet full of games and ... That's how this next drawing came to be - Still Life of Blurble.

This piece captures all sorts of movement throughout, from the grain in the table to the angled boxes of the game and the lain out cards. It moves the eye that captures the attention!

And my last drawing is a landscape done using a mixture of different mediums, ("art medium" refers to the art materials or artist supplies used to create a work of art).  I used Charcoal, colored pencils, crayons, and pastels to create this landscape.

I only had a limited time to finish these so I didn't have a whole lot of time to go into great detail as I did on the previous piece, but sometimes simplicity beats complexity

If you perceive this image correctly it should look like a road - more specifically; a gravel road going far and beyond the horizon from a hill with trees and grass and plopped alongside that road appears to be a telephone wire taking you diagonally through the piece.

SAINT PHILOMENA PAINTING

I decided to do one more painting before school started back up, so I chose a canvas of the size, 9 X 12 and put some paint on it. I did a base layer of Acrylic paint and then splattered some oil paint on top -

I decided to film the painting from start to finish so I could see the progress in a time lapse. The phone kept shutting off on me, so the beginning with the acrylic paint has some pieces missing. The second part with the splattering of oil paint I used the camera, which worked better - but the lighting was bad so it is hard to see.

I have one finished picture of the painting - this time no progress pictures, but a progress video.

BAD LIGHTING - TOO REFLECTIVE

Saint Agnes & Saint Anthony

St. Agnes of Rome

Agnes means lamb in the Greek Language. So I am going to continue writing this section in Greek - hopefully you are caught up in your studies.

And back to English - hopefully you could understand my Greek ... I'm a little rusty, it's been a while since I've studied Greek ... actually I've never studied Greek - Unless Google Translate counts?

And Finally for Saint Anthony

I'll keep this one in English. I just finished this picture today ... but if you're reading it on a different day than today, I didn't finish it that day, but this day - the day I typed it out, not the day you decide to read it, unless you are reading it today ... hopefully that makes sense.

For the in-progress pictures:
Saint Anthony and Christ child are done in Prismacolor colored pencil and for the first time ever I used pastel for the background - it was way quicker than using Prismas.

I hope you like these portraits of these two saints,

If you do please comment which picture you like, if you don't comment why.

Thank you for reading this post

And viewing my art I have created

I have updated the gallery of Saints so you may view them all in one spot. Saints Gallery

Maybe my favorite so far ...

This could well be my favorite

This could be my favorite dog drawing so far. Why? - It was fun to draw! I turned out how I like it and it could also be that the picture ...
WASN'T BLURRY!
And it was a nice full body dog that was clear ... enough ... here
Is a glimpse of the head.

My favorite part are the eyes. and the right ear ... looking at it though it is the left ear.

Here are some more photos leading up to the final

This one used a filter to darken the values - look at the eyes.

And here it is with the background!

And her name is Ava - I'm sure you would know if you read the name.

And here Ava is doing all she can to stop the spread of Covid-19 ... I'm so proud of her - that's my good girl, Ava, come get a doggy num num.

I am almost finished with the last letter A prismacolor, Saint Anthony, so that will be next ... unless perhaps something else pops up?

Thank You for reading and viewing this dog!

Comment which dog food is your favorite!
But if you haven't tried any, comment what kind of dog is best!

A little Behind.

More dogs and a Redo.

I haven't finished Saint Anthony yet so I haven't published the letter 'A' saints - because I had to redo some dogs and a rush order dog came in from a customer.

Here is the original dog:

And here is what happened:

Yes ... your eyes are correct if you see a hole.

And here is my replica of it:

Which Version Is Best?

Is it the First version?

Is it the Replica?

Or do you like the one with the hole?
